After announcing its plans to set up a greenfield switchgear unit in China, the Rs 14,400 crore engineering and construction major Larsen & Toubro is now planning to set up another electrical engineering plant in the Middle East. According to informed sources, the company is in talks to set up a plant in the Gulf region through the joint venture route.
The company is planning to set up a plant in the Gulf region to cater to the electrical engineering requirements of the burgeoning hydrocarbon industry there.
The proximity of the proposed plant to the oil & gas units in the region will enable it to deliver customised products and solutions to companies there, sources added. The plant will initially act as an assembly unit, integrated with L&T’s electrical manufacturing units in India and will deliver large volumes of products in lesser time to customers.
