Allan Craig, who will be a senior this spring for the California baseball program, has been named to Baseball America’s 2005 College Summer All-America Team. Craig, who mostly played left field for the Golden Bears during the 2005 season, was named the first-team shortstop on Baseball America’s prestigious All-America team, which included all the top amateur summer leagues, including Cape Cod, Alaska, Northwoods and Team USA.
Craig excelled for the Alexandria (Minn.) Beetles of the Northwoods League, batting .362 (72-for-199) with 12 home runs and 40 RBI. He also nine stolen bases and finished with a .416 on-base percentage and a .628 slugging percentage. Craig joined outfielder Cyle Hankerd from USC, outfielder Michael Taylor of Stanford and right-hander Tim Lincecum from Washington as members of the Pac-10 who were selected summer All-Americans.
As a junior outfielder for the Bears, Craig was named honorable mention All-Pac-10 after batting .307 overall with a .358 average versus Pac-10 competition. He added 14 doubles, eight home runs and 35 RBI, and three times last season led-off a game with a home run. Craig now owns a .292 career batting average at Cal with 33 doubles, a triple, 16 home runs and 72 RBI in three seasons.

In the two years since forming the South Florida Mustangs travel baseball program, manager Gary Bussey has watched the squad rapidly grow into one of the area's most competitive.
This summer, the Mustangs have again been among the best in the state.
The squad, competing as the Lake Worth Mustangs during the Pony League season, recently earned a second-place finish in the Pony League 11-and-under state tournament.
The Mustangs won the district tournament in early June and are currently playing in the Amateur Athletic Union national tournament, which began Friday in Orlando.
"I feel the team's performance was outstanding in districts," Bussey said.

Duke teammates J.J. Redick and Shelden Williams were the top two players in voting by the 72-person media panel that also picks the weekly Top 25.
Redick got 67 votes, Williams had 63, Illinois guard Dee Brown was third with 51 and Morrison had 45.
Boston College forward Craig Smith completed the top five with 31 votes.
Connecticut sophomore forward Rudy Gay was sixth in the balloting with 26 votes and led the 29-player "others-receiving-votes" group that included Brandon Roy of Washington
