Air Canada says it will offer the airline industry’s first-ever subscription to unlimited flights.
The price of the two-month pass is $6,998, plus tax.
The Montreal-based carrier (TSX:ACE.B) said Tuesday its new North America Unlimited Pass lets pass holders fly as often as they wish - for a two-month period from Oct. 1 to Nov. 30 - to more than 100 destinations served by Air Canada and subsidiary Air Canada Jazz in Canada and the continental United States.
The pass will be available for purchase for two weeks starting Wednesday.

Tourism operator Transat A.T. Inc. has bought control of Travel Superstore Inc., a Hamilton company that operates 10 travel agencies and a travel Web site called tripcentral.ca.
The Montreal company said Tuesday it made the acquisition thrrough its wholly owned subsidiary, Consultour Inc. Financial terms of the deal were not revealed.
Consultour operates travel agencies and franchises, with more than 200 sales outlets in Canada.

US Airways received final approval Friday to exit bankruptcy protection for the second time in three years and merge with America West Holdings Corp.
The ruling allows the airline to be purchased by America West, the nation’s eighth-largest airline, as soon as Sept. 27.
U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Stephen Mitchell approved the airline’s reorganization plan after allowing the airline to provide $12 million in severance pay to 11 executives who will not be given jobs at the merged airline.

Air Canada cancelled all domestic Canada and transborder U.S. flights to and from Toronto Tuesday in the wake of the accident, in which an Airbus A340 overshot the east-west Runway 24L by about 200 metres and plunged into a ravine near Highway 401. The airline expected to resume such flights Wednesday, "as quickly as possible," it said in a news release.

Canada West made history in front of 700 fans here Saturday night as the first team to claim the cross border North America Four Rugby Series title with a 31-20 showing over runner-up finisher USA Falcons. In the consolation final, Rugby Canada made it a sweep over USA Rugby teams as Canada East held off the USA Hawks, 34-18.
