Tas tourism campaign targets Victorians

The Tasmanian Government has launched a fresh campaign to entice more Victorians to take a short break in Tasmania.

Advertisements will be placed at prime Melbourne sites like Federation Square and will also appear on trams and AFL programs.

Last year’s controversial “Melbored” campaign increased the number of short break Victorian visitors by more than 60 per cent.

Rob Gaison from Tourism Tasmania says paper coffee cups carrying new tongue-in-cheek slogans will be distributed to inner city Melbourne cafes this month.

“I don’t think we should be shy,” he said.

“To cut through all the noise that is in the market place we have to be little bit different so we are using billboards in very different prime locations in Federation Square.”

Economic lift from tourism campaign

A SCOTTISH tourism campaign boosted the country's economy by more than £40 million, it was announced today. The Welcome to Our Life campaign last year promoted the country in Continental Europe and highlighted the different activities visitors could experience. The 12-year-old Alliance of Tribal Tourism Advocates is starting a new campaign, hoping to jump-start tourism on South Dakota reservations. “We Want to Make Your Reservation to a Tribal Sovereign Destination,” the new campaign, aims to draw more people – and money – to Indian Country. London-based Qsoft Consulting has taken an unusual step for a media owner and expanded its Gaydar brand from the radio and internet dating to the online travel industry. South Africa says AIDS drugs on track despite critics
