Cholamandalam MS General Insurance launches Overseas Travel Insurance Policy

Filed under:

Cholamandalam MS General Insurance (Chola MS), a Chennai-based private general insurance company, today announced the launch of its new overseas travel insurance product - Chola Travel Insurance. The policy coverage includes adventure sports like bungee jumping, parasailing, paragliding, deep-sea walk, trekking etc to cater to the growing demand of holiday seekers. Door-to-door coverage for Personal Accident, from the residence to international airport and back, is another first-of-its-kind benefit offered to the Indian overseas traveler. This policy follows a ‘per day’ pricing model, which is another product highlight.

Mr. Arun Agarwal, Managing Director, Cholamandalam MS General Insurance says, “Cholamandalam MS aims to provide customers a well-researched portfolio of products designed to suit their growing insurance needs. In line with this objective, we have launched our all-new travel insurance product with a host of coverage features that are critical to the travel needs of today’s overseas traveler. Our new overseas travel product reiterates our concerted effort on meeting these customer needs with value for money propositions.” Chola Travel Insurance brings with it the added benefit of a newly defined geographical scope - Asia Pacific (excluding Japan), as a result of which, travel cover to say Australia or Singapore is now more competitive in price, as against the industry practice of charging a price applicable for the ‘Excluding US-Canada’ category for these destinations.

Another highlight is the coverage for cruise travel and one-way immigration travel with no additional charge.

The benefits of the policy include cashless settlement of hospitalization claims abroad, coverage upto 70 years without medical check-up, online policy issuance, maximum coverage upto 360 days by extension, special family plans with children covered upto the age of 25 years and annual multi-trip plans.

If you are planning a trip to London and haven't yet bought travel insurance, it's likely too late to get coverage. Most policies exclude destinations (often countries, not just cities) where a terrorist incident has occurred within the past three to six months. If you are planning on traveling to London within the next month and already have a travel-insurance policy, you're covered for canceling under standard trip-cancellation and trip-interruption clauses in policies issued by companies such Access America and CSA, two of the nation's top three insurers. Each policy varies, but the standard wording on terrorist attacks abroad (most policies also

Students unaware of insurance gaps

As the academic year culminates with the release of A-level results, American Express Travel Insurance is warning that many students are unaware of gaps in their insurance coverage. Taking a gap year has become more popular than ever over the last ten years. According to a study by Universities & Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) nearly 137,000 students deferred entry to university after their A-levels. Most head off without any coverage, risking more than they probably ever realize. Joanne Field, marketing manager with Amex said: "Many of our gap year policies are bought by parents, who are more experienced about what can happen,

Have gap year, will travel, but it’s vital to pack right policy

Teenagers awaiting A-level results, due out on August 18, may already be planning a year out before university but parents should insist they make room for travel insurance in their rucksack. While young travellers may feel immortal and invincible, and reluctant to budget for insurance, the parents left at home may be more concerned about assistance in case of theft, illness or worse. Joanne Field, marketing manager for American Express Travel Insurance, said: "Not surprisingly many of our gap year policies are bought by parents who are more experienced about what can happen." Research commissioned by Direct Line revealed that an estimated 200,000
