With Memorial Day in the rear view mirror comes the start of the summer travel season. People flying in and out of Palm Springs will have plenty of travel options this summer.
Pack your bags. It may be a summer to remember at Palm Springs International. Sure, it’s quieter here now than during our winter months, but airport administrators say people flying in and out of Palm Springs last summer set a new summer passenger record. This year we may see yet another record.
“Some of the new services, the Sacramento service with Horizon Air,” said airport spokesman Bryant Francis. “We’ve got extra service with United Express, extra flights to Salt Lake City with Delta Connection and the same number of flights to Phoenix on America West, but on larger airplanes. So we have extra seats on America West Express.”
The airlines added several flights to the board during the summer of 2003, but weren’t able to fill them. So they cut back last summer, which ended up being a record travel summer. So this year they’re adding more flights and expecting another record summer.
