India-U.K. air exercises in Agra, Gwalior
For the first time in 40 years, the Indian Air Force will hold a joint exercise with its British counterpart at the Gwalior and Agra airbases from October 2 to 16, according to official sources.
Exercise Indradhanush will see the IAF deploying Sukhoi-30, Bison and MiG-27 aircraft along with mid-air refuelling aircraft. The Royal Air Force will participate with Tornado F-3 aircraft along with VC-10 Tanker and E3-D AWACS eye in the sky aircraft.
The aim is to enhance mutual operational understanding and refine procedural aspects of the two air forces. The exercise will familiarise the crew with each others operational and technical practices.

US to hold biggest naval exercises in Asia Pacific
Amid persistent warnings about China’s growing military clout, the US military said on Tuesday it would hold one of its biggest naval exercises in the Asia Pacific this summer.
The large-scale operations will involve several carrier strike groups, each of which includes at least three warships, an attack submarine and a support ship.
Four carriers would be involved in three military maritime exercises - one of them touted as the world’s largest - between June and August in the region, Commander of the US Pacific Fleet Admiral Gary Roughead said in Washington.

Musharraf may travel to Cochin to attend one-day international
Pakistan's President Pervez Musharraf may travel to Cochin in southern India to attend the one-day international between the two nations on April 2, a cricket board source told AFP.
"There are indications that he may come to Cochin," the source said on Monday. "We should have a confirmation in the next few days."
Cochin, a popular tourist town in the Indian Ocean state of Kerala, will hold the first of six one-dayers between India and Pakistan on April 2 at the conclusion of the ongoing three-Test series.

Thousands of police and federal agents will respond to mock car bombs, hostage sieges, port attacks and other terror strikes across Australia this week to test the country's readiness ahead of next year's Commonwealth Games.
Most drills will take place around Melbourne, where the games will be held. Rescuers will practice treating multiple casualties.
The Games, expected to draw thousands of athletes from around the former British empire from March 15-26, are expected to be opened by the Queen.
About 4,000 officials from government, law enforcement and security agencies are expected to take part, along with 70 observers from 24 countries.

The U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization is urging Southeast Asian nations to stop the practice of clearing land by forest fire.
"Using fire to clear forests is prohibited in most of the Southeast Asian countries and the ban should urgently be enforced. Instead, tree and vegetation residues should be better utilized, or destroyed mechanically to protect human health and the environment," Mike Jurvelius, a U.N. FAO forest fire expert, said Tuesday in Bangkok.
Agra-industrial companies set most of the blazes, which were the cheapest way to clear large tracts of land for agricultural use, Jurvelius said.
