Four of Americas Corporate leaders launch Lebanon rebuilding effort
Four executives of leading U.S. companies today announced the creation of the U.S.-Lebanon Partnership Fund to provide critically needed resources to assist in the reconstruction effort in Lebanon following the recent conflict.
The four leaders directing the fund are: Craig Barrett, Chairman, Intel Corporation; John Chambers, President and CEO, Cisco Systems; Yousif Ghafari, Chairman, GHAFARI, Inc.; and Dr. Ray Irani, Chairman, President and CEO, Occidental Petroleum Corporation.
The goal of the U.S.-Lebanon Partnership Fund is to raise a significant amount of money to support the reconstruction effort in Lebanon. Through the fund, the four leaders will galvanize a nationwide effort to raise awareness and resources to help Lebanese communities rebuild following the war.

India evacuates 411 more from Lebanon
India evacuated 411 more people, including 82 Indians and 324 Sri Lankans, from Lebanon Monday in the fourth round of Operation Sukoon aimed as rescuing men and women from the war-ravaged country.
In the latest round, launched following Israels bombings targeting the Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, five Nepalis were also brought back. The evacuees were flown in by a special Air India flight from Larnaca in Cyprus.

Tourism officials have launched a new effort to promote Tucson as a natural destination choice.

America's embarrassment in "backyard"
The fourth Summit of the Americas has concluded as scheduled. Different from past sessions the summit failed to sign a planned declaration by state leaders, becoming the first Americas Summit that ends without a final document.

The Tourism Ministry released figures showing that the number of visitors in June dropped 9.25 percent compared to the same period last year, adding that 120,955 tourists visited the country last month. Political violence has caused a sharp drop in the number of visitors traveling to Lebanon in the first half of 2005, a figure which has slipped by more than 30 percent compared to the same period last year, a tourism expert said.
