The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), recently assisted the visit of nine travel agents from Dammam who were on a familiarisation trip to Dubai.
They were accompanied by Yusif Bukhari from DTCM Saudi Arabia office.The visiting group was in the emirate for the first time to enlarge their knowledge about the emirate and to promote Dubai as a tourist destination in Saudi Arabia.
They were given a presentation by DTCM on the latest developments in Dubai which was well received by them. The department assisted their visit and arranged site inspections of hotels and hotel apartments as well as a city tour and Desert Safari during their stay in Dubai. They were highly impressed by what the emirate has to offer visitors.
Saudi Arabia is an important market for Dubai and has seen an increasing number of visitors. Dubai hotel establishments received seven per cent more Saudi visitors in 2004 compared with the previous year.

They were in Dubai to acquaint themselves with its numerous attractions as well as to promote the emirate as a tourism and commerce destination.
The visiting group toured some beach properties, five and four-star city hotels and hotel apartments for site inspections in order to get a better understanding and knowledge of the amenities available to the visitors.
In addition, they were taken on a city tour and a Dhow cruise by the department.

Online travel bookings in Asia are set to double 2003's figures to US$16 billion by 2006, according to a report by Asia's leading air ticketing and reservations company.
An estimated 29 percent of regional air travel bookings will be made online by the end of 2005, up sharply from 3.5 percent in the previous year, Singapore-based Abacus International said over the weekend.
