Promotion of eco-tourism sought

Tourism entrepreneurs today stressed on the need to promote eco-tourism for the sustainable development of mountain tourism as well as for the recovery of the slackened tourism industry.

Speaking at the 8th TAAN National Eco-Trekking Workshop organized by Trekking Agents Association of Nepal (TAAN), Chief Executive Officer of Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) Tek Bahadur Dangi said that tourism in Nepal, which is a major destination for adventure tourism, can be promoted in a sustainable manner by adopting eco-friendly tourism activities.

Eco- tourism activities would not only help Nepal earn good image in the world, but also help it to promote tourism sector as a whole, said he.

Laying emphasis on the eco-tourism for the promotion of tourism in the country, Karna Shakya, a senior tourism entrepreneur, said that eco tourism begins with the assimilation of nature and culture. “Tourism will die away once these two elements do not remain together.”
