Galileo announces nationwide service fee seminars for travel agents

Galileo International, Inc., a leading global distribution system (GDS) and subsidiary of Cendant Corp. announced it is hosting a national seminar program in Australia for travel agents looking at ways they can manage the industry’s continued evolution from a commission-based model to one more aligned with the concept of charging fees for service.

Galileo believes many Australian operators are keen to adapt their businesses to a service fee-oriented model and has organized the nine-day series of seminars to answer key strategic, management and administration questions. The seminars are open to all travel agents.

The seminars start in Sydney on Wednesday July 20 and run through to Friday July 29 in Brisbane.

The seminars follow Galileo’s launch of the first fully-deployed and operational service fee software package on the Australian market – incorporating Galileo Fee Manager, Galileo FeeNett and an updated version of Galileo CrossCheck Travel. The package has been specially developed to help agents operate more efficiently and profitably under a service fee environment, which came into effect on July 1.

The programs cover the full range of work for travel agents, from accessing and arranging customer travel, to calculating fees, charging fees and accounting. They can be used as a complete package or individually.
