Travel Aids - Wear a Sarong as a Shawl

Need a shawl when eating in a Southeast Asia restaurant? Use this travel tip. Wear a sarong as a shawl. It is a great wrap for bare shoulders and arms.

Air-conditioned restaurants are chilly in comparison to the hot, humid air outside. Throw the sarong around your shoulders. Remove it when back outside. A sarong is light, thus easy to carry.

Wearing a native sarong will not label you as a tourist. Wear the traditional garb of the native women. Sarongs are sold in local shops and markets. The variety of colors and patterns are intensive. Buy a couple of them. Remember that they do not take up much space in the luggage.

Not going to Southeast Asia soon, but want to have a sarong to wear as a shawl. Investigate the selection available at BaliWraps.com. They have original Indonesia sarongs for a modest price. Use the following link to choose a sarong.

Have Stockings, Will Travel

Garments called "graduated compression stockings" greatly decrease the risk of dangerous blood clots called deep vein thrombosis (DVT) for passengers on long-haul flights, a new study finds. In fact, researchers found that individuals who do not wear these stockings when they fly are 12.5 times more likely to develop a potentially fatal DVT than people who do wear them. The review, published in the current issue of the Journal of Advanced Nursing, focused on the results of nine comparative trials involving about 2,500 airline passengers. Only two of the 1,237 people who wore compression stockings developed DVT, compared with 46 of the 1,245

HIV/AIDS Continues to Wreck Havoc in Sub-Saharan Africa

HIV/AIDS Continues to Wreck Havoc in Sub-Saharan Africa Sub-Saharan Africa contains only 10 percent of the world's population, but is home to 60 percent of all people living with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. One of the continent's bright spots in the fight against HIV/AIDS is Kenya. The most dramatic decreases in HIV prevalence rates in Sub-Saharan Africa have been among pregnant women in the Kenyan towns of Busia, Meru, Nakuru, and Thika. According to the U.N. 2005
