Foreign investors show interest in tourism sector: Jamal

Federal Minister for Tourism Dr G.G Jamal has said that it is a positive sign for the Tourism Industry that foreign investors have shown interest to invest in tourism sector.

In a statement Federal Minister for Tourism Dr G.G Jamal said that the foreign investors who have shown interests are Jaffery International Group of UK, Saudi Arabia and Malaysia.

The Minister stated that coming of foreign investors would not give boost to tourism industry but will also generate employment.

“International expertise will come to Pakistan and will provide better facilities to tourists", he said.

Indian Kashmiris could freely travel in AJK, Pak: Hayat

Talking to a private television on Saturday, AJK prime minister Sardar Sikandar Hayat Khan said, “Our brothers and sisters coming to us are free to visit the place of their choice. They are our guests and they could go everywhere they want.” He regretted AJK inhabitants had to face certain travel restriction during their stay in Indian controlled Kashmir .

He said he was grateful to Islamabad for doling out requisite funds to Muzaffarabad for developing Azad Kashmir territories .

Sardar Sikandar said, “as for development works, territories under the Indian occupation lag far behind what we own. And this owes to support and release of sought-for funds by Islamabad and proper utilization of the funds.” He slammed Indian authorities for denying travel permit to Pakistani information minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad for Srinagar, saying Mr. Rashid was to travel to occupied territory as a member of a separated Kashmiri family and not as a Pakistani minister .

India has done a great injustice to Mr. Rashid. He should better have been given permission to see his relatives and visit graves of his forefathers in occupied territory", he said .

US renews Iran travel warning

The US government on Thursday renewed a warning against travel to Iran, saying anti-US hostility had increased the threat of kidnapping.

But a State Department official said the warning was not linked to growing controversy over the past of Iran’s President-elect, Mahmood Ahmadinejad, who has been accused of taking part in the 1979 hostage taking at the US embassy in Tehran.

“Due to ongoing tensions, particularly along the border with Iraq, US citizens may be at risk of harassment or kidnapping,” said the State Department warning.

“Tensions generated by the current situation in Iraq have increased the potential threat to US citizens and interests abroad posed by those who oppose US policy.

No plan to travel abroad yet: Mai

Alleged gang rape victim Mukhtaran Mai has said that government has promised to return her passport, however she said she had no plans to travel abroad yet.

In an interview to a Uk based news agency here on Wednesday Mukhtaran MAI said she had met special advisor to the Prime Minister, Nilofer Bakhtiyar who promised that her passport would be returned while district government had also been directed for the return of the passport.

Mukhtaran Mai told that her passport was taken on her arrival in Islamabad. She further said that despite return of the passport, she had no plan to travel abroad yet.

No travel application of Rashid received

The government has said that it has not yet received the travel application of Pakistan Information Minister Sheikh Rashid for travelling on June 30 by the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus.

“As far as I know, till now, no such application has been received,” External Affairs Ministry spokesman Navtej Sarna told reporters.

Asked whether he would be allowed to come, the spokesman repeated that no application has been received from the Pakistani minister.

Pakistan has said it would forward his name for permission to travel by the Muzaffarabad-Srinagar bus.
